Google Releases Chrome Version 47

Yesterday Google released an update for Google Chrome bringing it to version 47.0.2526.73. This update addresses 41 security issues detailed below:

1x critical severity CVE (defined)
13x high severity CVEs
6x medium severity CVEs
3x low severity CVEs

Other security issues addressed are detailed in Google’s blog post. Google also announced that from March 2016 32 bit versions of Chrome installed on Linux systems will no longer receive security updates. However, 32-bit build configurations using the open source Chromium projects will still be supported. Further details of this announcement are available here and here.

Google Chrome updates automatically and will apply the update the next time Chrome is closed and then re-opened. Chrome can also be updated immediately by clicking the Options button (it looks like 3 stacked small horizontal lines) in the upper right corner of the window and choosing “About Google Chrome” from the menu. Follow the prompt to Re-launch Chrome for the update to take effect.

If you use Google Chrome as your web browser, please consider updating it as soon as possible. Thank you.
